What’s it like to receive boxed flowers?

As a retail florist, we pride ourselves on creative design along with same day, hand delivery. My husband ordered these flowers just to see what it would be like to have flowers arrive to us through the mail. I have to say, the chocolates were not bad but the presentation did not do the best thing for the flowers, as the chocolates were placed on top of the tulips heads and obviously had bounced around. The day was also very hot and humid and so I fear these would not fair well if they had been left on a front porch, as I have often seen them left. A .99 sale made the flowers reasonable but by the time shipping and handling came in to play, these flowers cost him almost .00 with paying a bit extra for a Monday delivery. The ad says that normally this presentation of flowers would cost .99 so I think if they were not a deal of the day, they would have cost far more than our hand arranged and delivered arrangements. Drop shippers are not going away but this video shows that there is a difference and sometimes the florist option might be preferable. As long as the consumer knows what the process is and what they are getting, I guess we must leave the decision up to them.
