Teacher and her husband are found shot dead in a pickup

Teacher and her husband are found shot dead in a pickup on the side of the road with bullet wounds in their heads.
Police are investigating the deaths of a teacher and her husband after their bodies were found inside a pickup truck in New Mexico.

Ursula Kokotkiewicz, 32, and husband Jacob, 31, were found with gunshot wounds to their heads in a blue truck along the I-40 near Albuquerque on Thursday last week.

Police identified the couple on Tuesday, saying that Jacob was in the driver’s seat and found with a 9mm handgun between his legs. His wife was beside him in the front passenger seat.

The identities were reported by KOAT Albuquerque.

Officers have not yet ruled the deaths a murder-suicide and say they are still examining the scene and looking for a possible motive.

‘This investigation remains open and ongoing,’ State Police spokeswoman Elizabeth Armijo told the Albuquerque Journal.

Police said the pair lived in Flower Mound, Texas, and Mrs Kokotkiewicz taught English in the Dallas area.

They had been visiting National Parks in recent days, according to social media posts, and were recently in Utah before traveling to New Mexico.

Her last post was on June 27 from a spot in Zion National Park called Angel’s Landing, with the bodies were found two days later

Tributes were paid to Mrs Kokotkiewicz online, with one person writing: I can’t believe Ms K is gone. I should have gotten a picture, a hug or something, and I didn’t because I expected to see her again.’
