Soldier Show Performer

New Mexico Army National Guard SGT Quentin Dorn lives for music. His greatest passion is writing and recording original songs. He already has written 50 songs and recorded a nine-song EP as a “Happy Valentine’s Day” gift. Dorn hopes the Soldier Show will help him polish the last aspect of his artistry: the live performance. While attending the University of New Mexico and earning a bachelor’s degree in advertising, Dorn, 26, served as vice president of marketing and advertising for Royalty Life Records, a record label he helped establish in Albuquerque. As the son of a pastor, he learned to sing in church but plans to extend his musical reach much further. Songwriters John Legend, Frank Ocean, India Arie and Drake have inspired Dorn to continue pursuing a career in music. “I don’t care if I am a performer, songwriter, A&R or manager,” he said. “I think I want to sing on stages every night, but I don’t really know for sure because I’ve never done it on a night-in, night-out basis. So the opportunity to live literally a dream by traveling and performing in front of people every night, mixed with the opportunity to find out if this is really something I want to do with the rest of my life. If it is, then I go forth from here full-throttle and pursue it. If not, I can reevaluate some basic things I’ve held as truths.”
